Big Game, BIGGER PROBLEMS
the bits I did were: storyboarding, production & editing

I’m a problem solver, though. There’s always a way. Roping in any and all expertise we could, outsourcing post production, and never not on the phone to some TV ad agents, I cobbled together a compelling and informative amalgamation using the best of our archive of footage.
It hit the broadcasts of 7 major regions, but only started getting real attention after the final whistle - or ending claxon? I don’t know how they end American Football games. The press attention was wild. It received over 250 pieces of coverage, boosted the client’s profile, and hit home on a crucial message - Safe streets start with safe software.
The culmination of months of effort and lobbying was crowned with a TV ad to be aired during the largest annual broadcast event in America - the Super Bowl.
This big game had bigger problems though.
-
The client only settled on the idea two weeks before kickoff
-
As a team of 3, I was the only video capable designer
-
We’d never made more than short clips for socials & web
-
We had no ad slots, and had never had to buy ad slots for US broadcast before
-
No concept, plan or time to film anything
-
Did I mention that it was two weeks to get it all done?
Software expert Dan O’Dowd knows about secure systems. He’s spent over 40 years making the most unhackable systems for the US Government. There’s danger to software that isn’t protected, and Dan knows that. Sadly, not everyone does.
The Dawn Project was launched as a non-profit to combat this, and one of its most urgent targets was Tesla’s ‘Full Self-Driving’ system. With a dangerous rollout allowing everyday citizens to become unknowing crash test dummies, something had to be done.
